Term 4 Week 5
Thank you to all the parents who attended parents evening this week.
We hope you found it informative and useful. Please see the office if you couldn’t attend and they can arrange an appointment for you at another time.
As scientists, we completed the final loop in our learning journey. This week we learned about the heart. We now know that the heart pumps blood around the body keeping us alive. We recognised that the heart beats faster when we exercise and beats at a slower pace when we sit still. We proved this by listening to our hearts using a stethoscope before and after running round the track. We observed a model of the heart to see how it works and enjoyed having a go at pumping blood around the 4 chambers. We learned that the heart weighed roughly 450g and enjoyed holding weights which totalled 450g to secure our understanding. We were surprised just how heavy it was!
As computer scientists, we enjoyed collecting, recording and interpreting our own data using online pictograms. We enjoyed recording using the different options and developed our typing skills to add labels and a title.
As artists, we have continued to learn about pattern and shape. This week we made a print block and used it to create a repeating print pattern.
