Term 4 Week 6
It is the end of Term 4 and we would like to wish all our Year 2 families a Happy Easter break!

As scientists, we have been finding out about the heart. We learned that the heart pumps blood around our bodies to keep us alive. We observed the heart pumping the blood by using a heart model. We also learned that the heart weighs around 450g and used weights to understand what this feels like. Lots of us couldn’t believe how heavy it was! Finally, we tested to see what happens to our heartbeat when we run. We used stethoscopes to listen to our hearts before and after and concluded that our heartbeat was faster because our bodies needed more oxygen and blood flow when we exercise.

As musicians, we used a variety of instruments to play along to different beats.

As mathematicians, we have continued to learn about fractions. This week we have been finding a third in a variety of ways. We started by becoming fluent with our understanding using a variety of equipment and then applied our knowledge to reasoning and problem solving questions.
