Term 5- Week 2
Week 2
We are all thoroughly enjoying our new enquiry, ‘What Made London Burn’ so many incredible questions and writing coming from this enquiry. We have been learning all about life in 1666, just before the Great Fire of London! We had to use pictures and clues to try and work out different objects and jobs done at that time.
For PE this week we have continued our learning in dance and our games for understanding. We loved watching the year 2s work together as a team this week to create a sequence of positions and moves.
In English we have been drafting a leaflet all about London and how incredible our Capital city is. Watch this space for our published ones very soon.
We have been looking at features of leaflets to help inspire us for writing our own!
Maths has been another brilliant week exploring 3D shapes and what makes them 3D, by looking at the faces, edges and vertices of shapes. We have also been thinking about how we can compare and sort our shapes based on their properties.
Art we have been looking at our printed collages from last week and using these images to build up smaller pieces to make realistic feathers for our birds. We have tried so hard with this.
In Science, we’ve started our enquiry into plants. We have explored what is the difference between a bulb, and a seed. Next week we will be experimenting how things grow in different places.
PSHE we are been carrying on our theme of relationships. We discussed the importance of touch and whether we liked the pictures of touching (holding hands, high fives, cuddling) or whether we didn’t. After that, we drew around our hands and wrote what type of touch we liked and what we didn’t like. It is always important for others to get permission from you.
We continued learning about mechanisms in DT this week. We focussed on learning about wheels and axels. In our groups we made a car that could steer and move due to having wheels and axels.
CONGRATULATIONS to Oliver in Jupiter Class who received a postcard this week for being so engaged and egar in all of his learning. Oliver is trying exceptionally hard.
