Term 5-Week 3
We hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and are looking forward to the King’s Coronation Bank Holiday weekend!
Another jam packed, four day week, this week. Friday was truly magical having held a celebration lunch on Friday to celebrate
the coronation. The fish and chip (grab bag) lunch and Coronation cake was delicious. The PTFA, (a big thank you) also purchased commemorative bookmarks which was given to all children.
As writers we have had a super exciting week as we have finished our leaflet all about London, the adjectives we have used have been astounding. We are all super proud of them. Mrs Hodder even visited Jupiter Class to see the fantastic earning and she too was very impressed.
As mathematicians we have starting a new concept this week, money. We have been recapping coins and notes and the value these have.
We also managed to play some money bingo as well.
As scientists, this week has all been about using the skill of predicting. We have talked about what will happen to the plants (cress and broad beans) if we plant them in different places, no sun, sunlight, no water and water. We have also predicted whether seeds can grow without soil. Next week we will be planting them and observing over time how they grow. Watch this space!
As designers this week we have made our final mechanism, a lever. We will be using this mechanism to design and make a catapult to put out the Great Fire of London.
As historians we have learnt all about how the fire started and why it spread. We made a timeline of events and sound out where the fire started, what factors made it spread and how they stopped it.
