Term 5- Week 4
We hope you had a brilliant weekend celebrating!
As writers this week we have been looking at creating a diary describing what ‘The Great Fire of London’ was like. The language we have used to describe these events are incredible.
As mathematicians, we have been carrying on our learning of money. This week we have been exploring how to find different amounts of money using a variety of coins.
In science and as Scientist, we have been carrying out our investigation of how different plants grow in different conditions. We have been using the skill of observation of time to see if our predications from last week are true.
As designers this week we have looked at which mechanisms would be the most effective to create a catapult to put out the great fire of London. We have designed our own and will be making them next week so stay tuned.
For our Enquiry ‘What made London Burn?’ we have learnt all about how the fire was reported. We found out all about Samuel Peyps and the diaries he kept. These helped us to understand what happened in the fire along with paintings and newspaper articles. We identified any words we didn’t know the meaning of.
In PSHE we talked about secrets and when it is good to keep a secret. We discussed ‘worry secrets’ when you’re not sure if you should tell someone or not. We wrote down some advice for anyone who has a ‘worry secret’ and told them it is better to share so an adult can help you with it.
As dancers we continued to be creative and this week we experimented with circles. Circles with our arms and legs and circles that turned. We performed to each other and then shared some positive thoughts on what we watched.
