Term 5-Week 5
It is lovely to be back in for a full week.
This week we have been doing our ‘booklets’ SATs. Your children have been incredible and we are so very proud of them.
Some children have received an ‘awesome’ postcard for this week!
As Designers this week we built and evaluated our catapults. We found ways to make the catapults better so if we were to make them again we could improve them.
As scientist we have been using our ‘observation over time’ skill to study and record the changes to our plants. The broad bean seed has only grown in light, warmth and water but what has shocked us the most was the growth with no light.
As computer experts we have been starting to look at pictograms. First we talked about how a tally chart works and how we can use this data. We used animals to show this. Next week we will be inputting data onto a tally chart online.
In PSHE we have been looking at different types of secrets and what a worry secret might look like. We’ve talked about what advice we would give if someone had a worry secret. We agreed telling someone about a worry is always really important as they may be able to help.
In PE we have continued with our games for understanding and have improved our team work and techniques. We are becoming more successful each week. We worked well at discussing tactics with our team and trying out different strategies.
We also worked with our learning partners in dance to create circles. We made shapes, turns, jumps and moves, then we performed our routines to the rest of our class. Year 2 are becoming fantastic dancers.
As historians we have created a news report for The Great Fire of London. We were reporters, eye witnesses and weather people. It was great fun to record all of our knowledge and learning!
