Term One-Week Three
Another superb week of learning. We are so impressed with how much year two are grappling and persevering.
As mathematicians, we have been continuing our learning of place value. We have used dienes to show how many tens and ones are in a number. Later on in the week we used number line to show the pattern in a number using tens and ones. We are trying so hard with this at the moment.
As writers this week, we have been looking at a new book, ‘Lighthouse Keepers lunch’. First we were set the challenging of predicting what would happen in the story, we then have written what we liked, disliked, what puzzled us and what connections we could make about the book. To finish our week off we have been looking at adjectives to describe a character and using these adjectives to make sentences and have turned them into ‘wanted’ posters for our characters.
As geographers, we have been looking at regions and the region we live in. We are getting really confident at looking at maps to identify this now. We have also been using our knowledge of map reading to make our own maps. A super busy week.
As scientists, we have be continuing our learning of materials and learning what an atom is. We then deepened our understanding by exploring what solid, liquid and gases meant.
As citizens this week, we have been looking at what responsibility means and how we can take responsibility in our own class and school community. We looked at pictures and ranked them as to which was being the most responsible.
As computer experts, this week we have been looking at IT around our school and the purpose of these. We have be discussing what they do and how they do it.
