Term One-Week Two

We’ve had another brilliantly, busy week, this week. The new routines of the classroom are being remembered and the children are really stepping up to the challenge of year 2.

As writers we have been recapping our rules for writing. Spelling, grammar and punctuation. We’ve been going on noun hunts, creating descriptions of our friends using adjectives and going over how we can extend our sentences and descriptions using noun phrases.

As mathematicians, we have been looking at numbers to 100 by partitioning them into two ways. We have been looking at the place value they hold-whether they are a ten or a ones.

As scientists we have been thinking about what materials mean to us and how they play an important part in our lives.

As citizens, we have been thinking about any worries we might have but more importantly what we can do with worries and how if we share our worries, this could help.

As computer experts we have been looking at how we sequence and how this is an important skill for all areas of the curriculum.

As geographers we used the skill of map reading. We looked at maps from around Uphill to see if we could find landmarks that we recognised.
