Term Three-Week One
The Year Two team would like to wish you a Happy New Year and a very warm welcome back! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Christmas.
We are already busy bees this week with lots of new learning taking place this week.
Our new enquiry this term is studying the Victorians and answering the question; ‘Who were the Victorians?’ We love teaching this enquiry and the children thoroughly immerse themselves into this learning. If you have any artefacts linking to the Victorians or books we would love to see them.
As scientists we will be looking at what it takes to be healthy in our bodies and in our minds. We will be looking at hygiene this week and the importance of washing our hands. We used the glitter bugs investigation to show how easily germs can be left on our hands unless we wash our hands properly.
As mathematicians we have been looking at adding two digit numbers using dienes and calculation grids to help us see how many tens and ones we have to add.
As writers we are starting our new book-Oliver Twist. We have been thinking about the characters and how we could describe them.
As citizens we have been looking at a new ‘no outsiders’ book-How to be a Lion. This book talks about how people are different and how we can help people feel valued even if they are different.
