Week 1-Welcome to Pluto class

Welcome to Year 2!!

Your children have settled in so well and have taken year 2 into their stride.

This week we have been very busy and have been enjoying learning about Changes and our new book-Change Sings.

As writers, we have been looking what we can do to make a change. At first, we looked at the incredible language the book has in it and what that means to us. We then moved onto writing a sentence about the changes we could make. As a class we have created a new poem thinking about the changes we will make.

As mathematicians we have been dabbling with number and the place value of a number. We have done lots of practical learning on this and deepening our knowledge of tens and ones of a number.

As artist this week, we have been looking at the art in the book-Change sings and created our own graffiti blocks using line and experimenting with shading. As you can see the art work is incredible.

As scientist, we have been thinking about what makes a scientist. We have talked about how they need to have fun and they have to work together to make exciting changes. This term we will be learning about materials.

As citizens, we have been looking at our ‘No Outsiders’ books-We are all welcome. We have talked about what diversity means to us and thinking about how we can make everyone feel welcome.
