Week 5
What another lovely week in EYFS/Year 1!
As Geographers this week we have been looking at maps and the features of them. We know that they need keys, a compass and to be an ariel view. We created our own maps of the classroom and then directed our friends around the room with our maps.
This week foundation have learnt sounds ‘g, o, c, k’ in phonics and have been practising writing CVC words. Year 1 have been learning some more suffixes- er and est.
As writers, Year 1 have been learning about using time conjunctions such as ‘first, then, next’. We used this language to direct our friends around a treasure map and then wrote these down as a set of instructions.
In maths we have been looking at more, less and equal to with some new symbols! We built towers to compare with a symbol.
As Scientists we went on a senses walk. We explored the school seeing what we could hear, smell, see and touch.
We’ve had great fun outside, dressing up and in the mud kitchen. We’ve done lots of fine motor skills this week such as cutting and threading.
