Term 1- Week 4

Week 4

As mathematicians, Year 1 have been exploring more than and less than a number within 20. We started by building towers and comparing them to our partners.

Then we moved on to looking at equal numbers and enjoyed using different resources to represent equal numbers.

EYFS have been reading Handa’s surprise and have based their learning around that. We discussed the book, sequenced it and practised our cutting skills to make our own fruit basket like Handa’s.

Year 1 read a new text called ‘In every house, on every street’. We used it to discuss our houses and families and then did some writing about who lives in our house.

As Scientists this week we looked at how some materials are natural and some are manmade. We sorted different materials into where they have come from.

EYFS have enjoyed the sunshine this week, working together to build obstacle courses and some amazing models!

As artists this week, Year 1 experimented with drawing different types of lines.
