Week 7

As writers this week, we edited our stories of The Three Little Pigs. We checked what we had written and corrected any marvellous mistakes with purple pen. We have also ben looking at sentence structure and writing some silly sentences.

As designers we evaluated our Three little pigs houses. We talked about what worked well and what challenges we face. We thought about what we would change if we were to make our houses again.

As mathematicians, Year 1 have been learning to add two amounts together practically and have introduced the children to the + and = sign.

EYFS have been focussing on comparing groups of objects to identify which has more and which has fewer/ less.

EYFS have practised how to hold and use scissors carefully and challenged our self to cut along different lines e.g. curvy, zigzag, straight.

We have also been exploring colour. We went on a colour hunt and enjoyed a ‘listen and colour’ activity. They had to listen carefully to the instruction and select the right colour for that object.

This week we learned about Harvest and were very lucky to have Reverend Madeley and Lucy from the foodbank in our assembly to talk to use about where our food comes from and how fortunate we are to if we have enough food to eat.

We also enjoyed practising writing our new letters in different ways and exploring instruments outside!
