Term 2- Week 3
Week 3
What a fantastic week we’ve had in EYFS/Year 1! Whilst we have been practising our Nativity (very exciting!), we have also been busy with lots of learning.
This week as mathematicians, Year 1 have been taking away one-digit numbers using numbers, counters and the crossing out method.

EYFS have been exploring money this week. We compared 1p and 2p coins, discussing their size, colour, and value. We used our knowledge to buy items from a class shop.
As writers this week we have all enjoyed reading ‘Stickman’. We have been doing lots of activities such as book talk, retelling with puppets and we made a missing poster to help find Stickman!
As Historians we have been looking at old computers this week and comparing them to what they look like and what they can do now. We also plotted the first computer onto our class timeline.
We continued to explore magnets this week in science. We had fun experimenting by trying to sort some mixed up paperclips and crayons. We realised we could use a magnet to help solve the problem! Then we explored the classroom to find some more magnetic and non-magnetic materials and objects.
This week in R.E we were discussing what an ‘important person’ might mean and though about who our important and special people are. We used the words support and inspire.
Computing this term fits perfectly with our History! We are looking at the uses of different pieces of technology. This week we were identifying types of technology.
We have been busy this week with activities that help strengthen our fine motor skills! We’ve enjoyed Stickman cutting, making playdough Stickmen and creating pictures with elastic bands and boards.
