Week 1

We are so glad to be back and what a lovely week back it has been! We hope you all had a wonderful and restful Christmas break.

We enjoyed a lovely winter walk as Scientists this week and it was definitely wintery out there!

We discussed what we can see, hear and feel in the Winter whilst also collecting materials to create our Winter wreath. EYFS then looked at the differences between our Autumn and winter wreaths.

As writers this week, year 1 used their knowledge of Winter to create acrostic poems.

As Mathematicians this week, Year 1 have been showing numbers to 20 and talking about their composition. For example, we know that 13 has 1 ten and 3 ones.

We enjoyed our first dance lesson in PE this week. We were using our body to make different shapes and then combing the shapes to make a sequence.

We introduced our new Geography enquiry this week ‘Where is our place in the UK?’ and discussed what we already know and want to find out. We also discussed what skills we might use as Geographers.
