Term 3- Week 1

Week 1

Welcome back! We have been busy settling back in after a lovely Christmas break.

This week we have been recapping and learning new sounds in phonics. Year 1 are recapping new \phase 5 sounds and EYFS have learnt some new trigraphs- ‘air’ and ‘ear’.

In Maths we have been looking at addition this week. We have used part wholes and tens frames to help us write addition sentences.

As Scientists, we went on a Winter walk to see what we noticed about the change in seasons since Autumn. We recapped what we knew about the water cycle and learnt how rain and snow are made. We did an experiment to make a cloud in a jar. We then used what we learnt about Winter to write our own acrostic poems in English.
