Term 3- Week 1&2
Week 1 & 2
In phonics this week EYFS have been learning new sounds: ur (curl) oi (coin) ear (hear) air (hair) and Year 1 have been recapping : oy, ur, ur and ph.
We are Historians this term with our new enquiry “Which technology invention had the most significance’. To start our enquiry, we went on a technology walk around the school to see what technology is like now.
We then were lucky enough to have some special guests this week! Our Grandparents came in to talk to us about technology they had when they were children and we compared the similarities and differences to technology we have today. They brought in some amazing ‘artefacts’ and collectables for us to look at.
In English we have been discussing when and how to use a question mark. We then created questions to ask Grandparents when they visited on Wednesday.
In Maths we have been focussing on subtraction this week. We have been subtracting using ten frames and counting back on a number line with numbers to 20. EYFS have representing quantities in different ways, including by showing amounts on 1 hand ‘all at once’.
In art this week, we have been learning about Kandinsky. We experimented with powder paint and then had a go and created some art based on his work. EYFS have also enjoyed being artists. We have had great fun mixing colours and creating new ones.
In P.E this term we are enjoying doing dance. We are focusing on our social ‘cog’ through dance and we are looking forward to creating some shapes and sequences with a partner next week.
