Week 2
What a lovely week we have had in EYFS and Year 1!
As writers this week, both EYFS and Year 1 read a new book called ‘My Map Book’. We enjoyed looking at the interesting, unusual maps and creating our own. We loved creating a map of our heart and writing about what was in it!
As Mathematicians this week, Year 1 have been making numbers to 20 and partitioning them into tens and ones. Then we moved on to estimating numbers to 20 on a number line.
As Geographers this week, we looked at plotting different places on a map of Uphill. Then we looked at the differences between human and physical features of Geography, ready to find them in the village on our walk next week. We thought of actions for both and then sorted some geographical features into groups.
As citizens this week we discussed what success means and what we have been successful at. We made some coins of success to put in our class treasure chests in our floor books.
Year 1 have been learning about the artist Kandinsky. We enjoyed using powder paint to create a piece inspired by his!
