Week 2

This week in phonics Year 1 have reinforced sounds: oy, ir, ue, ph. EYFS learned sounds ure (cure) and er.

In Maths we have been looking at number 16 to 20. We have looked at how each number is made e.g. 14 is ten and 4 more. We have also practiced one more and one less than a number to 20. EYFS were identifying missing numbers to 5 and practising justifying their answers!

In English we have started a new book My map book. We looked at different types of maps in the book such as a map of my face and a map of my heart. We then created our own map of our bedroom and gave clear instructions to our learning partner on how to move around our room.

As scientists this week we learned about the water cycle and where rain comes from! We were very interested and listened to a song that helps us remember the process.

As Geographers this week we have looked at the location of our school in Uphill and what else is in our local area e.g. park, hospital, beach. We have also looked at physical and human features of geography, ready to find some on our walk around the village next week.

We had great fun working as a team to move a table top with tennis balls and paint on to mix colours!

In P.E this week we have been on a moon adventure finding some alien eggs! Then we practised our jumping and landing over a line.
