Week 4

As Geographers this week, Year 1 looked at what features a map needs. We looked at the human and physical features on the map and how they are shown in a key. They then drew their own maps of the  classroom.

As writers, we read a new book ‘Mrs Armitage on Wheels’. We discussed the book, including our likes and dislikes and then looked at the author’s use of exclamation marks. EYFS designed their own and thought about what they would need on their bikes.

As mathematicians Year 1 have been continuing to find number bonds to 20. EYFS have been looking at the pairs of numbers that make 5, and then have used double dice frames to begin to explore 6 and 7 as numbers that are composed of ‘5 and a bit’.

 

As artists, Year 1 have been painting using different tools. We experimented with brushes, sponges, cotton buds and forks!

As athletes we have been exploring dancing to the rhythm of different music and thinking about how the song changes our movement. We used our bodies to make circles and added them to our routines.
