Week 6

Year 1s this week in phonics we have been reinforcing: u-e sound as well as adding ‘ing, er, est and ed’ to the end of words.

EYFS have reinforced sounds: ai, ee, igh, oa. We wrote the sentence ‘I can meet the sheep on the road.’

In Maths Year 1 have been comparing the mass of different objects. To start with we used the language heavier and lighter to compare classroom items. Then we weighted items using cubes and discussed which was the heaviest and lightest items.

EYFS have looked at sets of objects and used maths language ‘equal to, more and less’ to compare them. We’ve also made patterns with equal amounts.

In English we have been authors this week. We have innovated Mrs Armitage on wheels by adding one of our own ideas into the story. We have been very impressed by reading some amazing stories!

This week was internet safety week. EYFS/Year 1 were talking about who our trusted adults are and if something goes wrong when playing an online game then what we can do.

EYFS have been practising making pressure with different tools.
