Term 4- Week 1
Week 1
What a lovely first week back! We have enjoyed being able to be outside more in the sunshine.
As writers, EYFS have been writing about ‘The Great Race’ after learning about Chinese New Year. Year 1 have been practising using capital letters. We enjoyed building some funny sentences and writing them with the correct punctuation.

As Geographers, we looked at where Weston-Super-Mare is located. We used a map and our compass points to describe where it was in the world, continent and country.

As athletes this week, EYFS and Year 1 started their gymnastics. We began learning the names for different shapes. For our outside PE lesson, we practised our control and accuracy, moving and passing with a ball.

EYFS enjoyed learning about and exploring how Chines New Year is celebrated. We made paper chains, dragon masks, and cooked some noodles to explore the concept of change.

As Mathematicians, Year 1 have been counting in 10s. We discussed what happens to the numbers and any patterns we can notice. We enjoyed some reasoning questions to consolidate our knowledge of counting in 10s.
