Term 4- Week 2
Week 2
This week was reading week! We had such a lovely time doing so many special activities to promote reading for pleasure.
Thursday was World Book Day and we loved seeing everyone’s fabulous and imaginative costumes! On Wednesday we had our bedtime stories evening. The children enjoyed coming back to school in their PJ’s and listening to their teachers read with a hot chocolate.
We enjoyed story masks coming into school this week as part of the Story Mask competition. The children loved showing their friends what they had made and reading the book to go with it.
As writers, we have been exploring different types of books that we might no come across all of the time. We created some poetry about our special places and designed our own comic book.
As Mathematicians, Year 1 have been partitioning numbers to 50 and then finding missing numbers on a number line to 50. We then used our knowledge of number to estimate where numbers would go on a blank numberline.
EYFS as Mathematicians have been creating repeating patterns with natural resources this week.
As Scientists we have started our new topic of ‘The Human Body’. This week we were looking at body parts and enjoyed labelling parts of the body on the floor!
As Athletes we are doing Dance this term! We enjoyed creating shapes with our bodies, both standing and floor shapes, and then putting them together with a transitional turn.
