Week 4

What a lovely week in EYFS/Year 1!

 

We are finding out about people who help us this term. This week we had an exciting visit from some paramedics! We learnt about what they do and why it is important before getting to look in the ambulance.

EYFS have enjoyed exploring spring this week. We went for a spring walk, discussed any signs of spring that we saw and then made a wreath with natural materials that we found on our walk.

 As Geographers this week we enjoyed a UK afternoon. We travelled around the different countries (classrooms) and found about things such as the flag, the food, the national flower and the human and physical features in each country.

As writers this week, Year 1 have been innovating ‘We’re going on an egg hunt’. We changed the villain in the story and came up with some amazing ideas. We then enjoyed retelling the story, including our own innovated ending!

As mathematicians, Year 1 have been learning about measurement this week. We started by using vocab such as tall, long and short to compare items before moving on to measuring with cubes.

 

As scientists, we learnt about the 5 senses and thought about what would happen if we didn’t have them. We discussed different smells and how clever our noses are! We experimented with different smells and had a go at matching them up to pictures.
