Term 5- Week 1
Week 1
We have had a lovely first week of term 5 after two weeks off for Easter!
As mathematicians Year 1 have been learning about equal and unequal groups. We then practised adding equal groups together by using our prior knowledge of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. EYFS have been counting verbally to 20 and counting things that cannot be seen (e.g claps, jumps, noises).
As writers, we introduced our new text ‘Tad’. We made predictions and answered some comprehension questions before completing a book talk grid with our likes, dislikes, puzzles and connections. We used ‘because’ to justify our answers.
As scientists, we introduced our new enquiry ‘How do living things survive?’. We went through our learning journey and shared what we already know about living things but also, what we would like to find out. We are looking forward to filling our learning board with all of our new knowledge!
As athletes we have been practising our ball control by using different sized balls to roll to our partners. EYFS extended this in one of our adult led activities, noticing what made it more difficult or easier.
As citizens, we began this terms topic of ‘relationships’. We discussed who is in our families and how all families are different. We enjoyed a story that showed us familied can be made up f lots of different people.
