Term 5- Week 4
We’ve had a lovely week in EYFS/Year 1. We have enjoyed the sunshine when we had it!
In Phonics EYFS we have been blending words containing the adjacent consonants b and l as in blurb and as in brow, c and l as in clap and as in crab, d and r in drab and f and l as in flog f and r as in free. Year 1 have been learning alternative spellings for: /ear/ (here)/ear/ (deer)/ar/ (father).
In Maths we have been this week, the children will review the composition of the numbers 6 to 9 using the ‘5 and a bit’ structure, and then begin to explore how 10 can be composed. They will also develop a sense of the ‘ten-ness of 10’ by making their own collections of 10 objects. In Year 1 we have been practicing courting back form 100 and identify one more and one less than a given number to 100. We have also been using our < > = symbols to compare numbers to 100.
As Scientists we have been which materials and how materials can be changed. We have used key words: squashing, bending, twisting, stretching linked to this.
We also through about why a certain material was chosen for a reason e.g. Why is wool used for a jumper and not a different material.
As designers, we have had great fun constructing our own types of houses after looking at different homes around the world.
In PE this week we were testing our reaction times. We had to drop the ball and our partner had to catch it after one bounce.
