Week 5

In phonics Year 1 have been teaching alternatives spellings: /ar/ (half)/air/ (there) /air/ (pear)/air/ (bare) /or/ (all). EYFS have been teaching blending of words containing the adjacent consonants s and p as in spun .Teaching blending of words containing the adjacent consonants s and t as in stars and w as in swim.

In Maths we have been learning about direction language e.g. under, behind, up, down, left, right.

As designers this week we worked in groups to plan and create our own stick, straw and brick houses. We had to listen to each others ideas and adapt our houses as we made these.

As scientists we have observed what happens to ice on a hot day. We have talked about what melts and what does not melt in the sun.

As artists we created collages of our face. We have done this over two weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed it. They have turned out brilliantly!
