Term 6- Week 1
Week 1
What a fantastic week back with lots of fun and exciting learning.
As writers this week we read our new focus text ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We discussed what we like and dislike about the book and what it reminds us of.
As scientists this week, we looked at the parts of a plant. We were able to see the roots in the soil and touch the parts before labelling them ourselves.
As mathematicians we have been counting from 50-100 and focusing on the composition of two digit numbers. We have been counting tens and ones and partitioning numbers.
As computer scientists we continued looking at programming by learning what an algorithm was. We made sequences on Scratch to see what would happen.
We are Historians this term with our new enquiry question ‘How has life changed over time?’. We learned a new word ‘civilisation’ and explored the definition. Then we discussed what we know already and what we would like to find out this term.
EYFS have been making doubke patterns as mathematicians this week. They showed them with counters on the ladybird and then recorded the answer on the sheet.
