Week 1

What a lovely first week back to school! Despite the rain, we have still managed to get outside and enjoy the sun lots!

As Scientists, we enjoyed a summer walk this week around the school grounds. We discussed signs of summer that we might see and how the weather changes within seasons. We noticed that the days get longer and that some of the grass had turned yellow in the sun!

This week we were lucky enough to release our butterflies into the wild! We have loved watching them grow and change.

As citizens we read the ‘No Outsiders’ book ‘I LOVE ME’ this week. We discussed what confidence means  and then practised some affirmations in mirrors.

As writers this week, we all read ‘Jack and the Beanstalk and enjoyed doing some writing about it! EYFS wrote about what they liked about the book with Year 1 discussing what questions they have about it and linking it to other familiar stories. EYFS have loved acting out the stories in different ways!

As Mathematicians Year 1 have been looking at the composition of numbers to 100.

As Historians, we introduced our new enquiry this week ‘How has life changed over time?’ and unpicked the word civilisation. We discussed what we already know and what we’d like to find out during this enquiry.
