Term 6- Week 1
Week one
What a busy but fantastic week in EYFS/Year 1!
This week, Sunshine Class and Saturn Class went on their very exciting tip to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. They all had an amazing time and saw lots of animals. They took part in a ‘Creature features’ workshop which will help us with out enquiry this term ‘how do living things survive?’
This week we have started our new enquiry ‘ How do living thing survive?’As scientists we enjoyed discussing what a living thing was and what a living thing needed e.g. water, food, air.
We have been writing facts we know about living things and questions / ideas we would like to find out more about. In English this week we have been writing facts we know about living things and questions that we have about them. Sunshine and Saturn then wrote about what they saw on their trip.
In maths, Year 1 we have been focusing on halving amounts equally e.g. cutting pictures in half. Working out half of an even number. e.g. Halve of 12 is 6. EYFS have started using rekenreks as tools to help us with our maths so we were practising noticing patterns and answering questions with them this week.
It was also art week this week and in EYFS/Year 1 we did some art work inspired by the book ‘Pigasso’. We recapped what Picasso’s art was like and then created our own animal like Pigasso. We produced some masterpieces and went around the school to look at everyone else’s art too.
