Term 6- Week 2

Week 2

What a lovely week we have had!

In Maths we have been finding a quarter of shapes and amounts. We have enjoyed  doing it practically and then applying our knowledge to answer different questions.

EYFS as mathematicians have been using language of ‘fewer’ when talking about countable things (e.g. I have fewer cubes than you) and ‘less than’ when talking about a number’s position in the counting sequence (e.g. 4 is less than 6 on our number track).

As scientists we have been looking at different parts of a plant and labelling them. We have talked about how plants grow and how plants are similar and different to each other.

We have all continued to enjoy our story of Jack and the Beanstalk and produce some wonderful story S’ to retell the story. Year 1’s added some story language and ‘power of three’ and then planned their innovation ready to write their own stories next week.

EYFS have looked at a new story this week: A tiny seed. We have made predictions on where the seeds may go. As scientists we ordered pictures to sequence the growth of a plant.

Another highlight of our week was helping the Lawrence, the caretaker, dig up old plants and prepare the soil for some new ones!
