Week 3
This week was art week! EYFS and Year 1 were learning about local artist ‘Hollie Dutton’ who collages simple animals. We loved having a go at creating our own simple collage animals! On Friday, we enjoyed an art walk around the school to look at what other classes have been creating.
We enjoyed a football themed whole school wake and shake on Friday to collect bottles for the summer fete!
As Historians, we had a special visit from Stewart Castle who came in to talk about his life and the changes he’s seen living in Uphill.
As writers this week, Year 1 have been innovating ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and writing their own story. They’ve included story language and some amazing power of three!
EYFS have been reading ‘Jasper’s beanstalk’ and doing some learning around it. We planted some beans and discussed what they need to grow.
As mathematicians, Year 1 have started looking at money. We introduced the different coins and notes and practised finding different ways to make amounts.
