Term 6- Week 4 - Uphill Village Academy

Week 4

This week we had sports day! We were lucky with the sun shining and we saw some amazing effort and determination going into all of the activities. We earned lots of house points!

As writers we started reading a new book called ‘What did the tree see?’. We discussed what we like and dislike about the book, as well as what connections we have with the book and any questions we have. We also sequenced the story so that we could discuss the changes that had happened over time.

As mathematicians, Year 1 have been looking at money a bit closer, learning the different notes we have and adding amounts of coins to make an amount.

As scientists year 1 enjoyed looking at the different beans they planted to see how they had grown. They filled in a bean diary and are excited to check them again next week.

EYFS have enjoyed building vehicles out of different outdoor resources this week!

They also worked together to try and save a poorly bee with some sugar water and flowers.

As Historians this week we had Stewart and Susan come in to talk about their family history and Uphill Village and how it has changed over time.

We also had another special visit this week. We met Flash and Buzz, the 10 year old tortoises! They live in Mrs Curtis garden normally.
