This week we have enjoyed our new book ‘ The three little pigs’ we have been acting out the story in our small world area. We have also produced a story S  where we draw pictures to represent the different parts of the story.

Can you ask your child to retell the story – encourage them to use story language e.g. Once upon a time, suddenly, they lived happily ever after.

As scientists we have been discussing words: bending, twisting, flexible and finding objects in the classroom that can be bent, twisted and are flexible.

In Maths we have been looking at number 7 and how we can make number 7 in different ways e.g. 5 and 2 – can your child use lego bricks to make 7 in different ways.

In phonics we have are learnign new sounds ‘ure’ (sure)and air (hair) . Can your child use the air sounds to write the sentence: My hair is wet.

We have been practising spelling sight words: no, go, my. was.

Year 1 –

Can they write a sentence with an adjective to describe the big bad wolf e.g. The big bad wolf has long sharp teeth.

As scientists we have been discussing words: bending, twisting, flexible and finding objects in the classroom that can be bent, twisted and are flexible.

In Maths we have been counting in twos and fives. Can your child use pairs of socks at home to count in twos? Can they count in fives the 5pence coins you have?

In phonics we are investigating the different ‘igh’ sounds.
