Week beg: 23rd May
EYFS
This week we have enjoyed looking at our beans to see if they have grown. Each group has produced a video to explain what has happened and we have drawn the conclusion that for a plant to grow it needs sunlight, water and air. (See videos created on tapestry)
In phonics we have been reading and spelling cvcc words e.g. plan, step, grip. Please can you practise with your child reading and writing some. Thank you.
In Maths this week’s activities will build on the children’s skills in comparing attributes and quantities, and focus exclusively on ordinality: considering where numbers to 10 are in relation to each other. Through practical activities and games, the children will reason about numbers and think carefully about which is more or less. They will use linear number tracks to play games that encourage them to compare numbers that are far apart, near and next to each other. (For example, 10 is a lot more than 2 but 5 is only 1 more than 4.)

In Phonics we have been recapping all sounds taught this year. Please keep practising these at home. Thank you.
In Maths we have started talking about what a half is e.g. half turn, half a shapes. We have had fun cutting different shapes into 2 equal parts to create halves. This website can be used to practice identifying what a half looks like:
