As part of our enquiry learning we found out about the first computer game called pong. (like table tennis) Can the children act this out to you?
This week in phonics we have learnt new sounds th (clown sticking out tongue) and ng (weightlifting)
Can you practice writing words with the th and ng sound e.g. thin, moth, ring, wing.

We also learnt sight words: we, be.
In Maths we have been learning about the composition of number 5. e.g. 5 is made form 4 and 1, 3 and 2. We have enjoyed singing the song ‘ five little speckled frogs’ to learnt about one less than a number. Can your children sing the song and show you how many frogs are left each time 1 jumps into the pond?

Thank you to everyone for sending in answers from Grandparents questions. We used information gained to write about similarities and differences between our present life and the past.

This week in phonics we have looked at the pronunciation /ee/ written as y in words. e.g. Cherry, dizzy, silly, stinky, bumpy. We have also learnt ‘ow’ (cow) can also make a ‘oa’ (snow) sound in words. e.g. Snow, low, grow, glow bowl, tow, snow, slow, window, rowing
We have been recapping reading and spelling sight words: people, their, Mr, Mrs, your, here, water, who, where, thought, again, work.
We have learnt new sight words: could, should and would. Can you spot these in a book with your child?
In Maths we have been learning how to find missing numbers in calculations e.g. 6 + ? = 10. 7 – ? = 4.
Can your child answer these questions and explain to you how they found the answer.
