Week beg: 28th June
This week we have been observing changes to our caterpillars. They have made cocoons and we are waiting to see the next stage in their life cycle.
We have been investigating the 5 different animals groups: mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.
Year 1 – can you explain to your grown up what makes an animals fit in each group? Can you name an animal for each group?
EYFS – What different types of animals are there? How are they similar / different ?

In phonics this week we have been practicing reading and spelling CVC/CVCC/CCVC words e.g. cat, grab, swim.
We have been practicing reading and writing sentences to include some of these words.
In Maths we have been reinforcing doubles and not doubles.
Is 7 a double? How do you know? What do you need to add to 7 to make it a double? Is number 4 a double?
YEAR 1
In Phonics we have teaching how to add the suffix ing e.g. sing – singing. Can you write the sentence: The boy was singing to the dog.
In Maths we have been comparing the length and height of objects. We have been measuring the length of objects using cubes and rulers. Can you find 3 different length items at home and order them from shortest to the longest?
