Week Beg: 4th April

Year 1

This week as part of our Design technology we have been making adaption to our houses models. We have talked about what went well when creating our models and how we could improve them if we were to make them again.

In phonics we have been learning about the different ‘oo’ sounds and using our best guess approach to spell words. We have found out that majority of words when the sound comes in the middle it will be: u_e  and oo

The majority of words when the sound comes at the end it will be: ew and ue

In maths we have been counting in tens and using this skill to solve problems. e.g. Seeds can be placed in packets of 10. How many packets do I need for 50 seeds?

We are looking forward to the Easter Bonnet parade on Friday. Have a lovely Easter break.

In phonics we have been recapping er, ur, oi, ow. We have been learning the sight word ‘her’ and writing simple sentences with her e.g. Her coat is red.

In maths we have been identifying 2d shapes and talking about their properties e.g. a triangle has 3 sides and corners.

We are looking forward to the Easter Bonnet parade on Friday. Have a lovely Easter break.
