French
We believe that learning a language for our children will provide an opening to other cultures. In our school, we teach French in Key Stage 2. We think a high-quality languages education should foster our children’s curiosity and deepen their understanding of Europe and the wider world. We aim to provide our children with the opportunity to communicate their thoughts in another language and respond in speech and sometimes writing. We also plan for opportunities to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read some literature in French. We believe language learning at KS2 should provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping our children to study and work in other countries.
