Science
We view science as a subject for all children. We believe science stimulates and excites children’s curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. It also satisfies this curiosity with foundational knowledge and concepts. Because science links direct practical experience with ideas, it engages children at many levels. We believe scientific method is about developing and evaluating explanations through experiential evidence and modelling, this will then develop a child’s critical and creative thought. Our children are taught to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science provides understanding of change, impacting on industry, business, medicine and the quality of life. Our aim is that our children will recognise the cultural significance of science by learning to question and debate science-based issues related to the direction of society and the future of the world.
