KS2 Maths Lessons

Dear Parents/Carers,

As I am sure you are aware, the curriculum for maths has year group specific objectives which need to be taught and achieved by the children every year.

Having reviewed our current teaching arrangements, we believe the best way to accelerate the learning of your children in the short term is to move to year group specific teaching for maths lessons across KS2. This will also enable us to operate with smaller numbers in each group.

The arrangements will begin on Wednesday 5th January and continue until July.

The children will be taught in these groups on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings for maths lessons only, which are approximately 1 ¼ hours each day.  On Mondays, children will focus on arithmetic methods within their normal class.

The maths lessons will be taught by the following teachers:

Year 3 maths – Mrs Maynes and Mrs Counsell/Mrs Allsopp

Year 4 maths –  Mr Huntley and Mrs Want

Year 5 maths –  Miss Horn and Mrs Tinker/Mr Hancock

Year 6 maths – Mr Clark and Mrs Want

To facilitate this temporary arrangement Mrs Want will be teaching maths across the four mornings and Mr Hancock .will be Orion Class teacher on Thursday and Fridays alongside Mrs Tinker. All other subjects will be taught normal classes.
