Covid-19 Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

As Covid-19 cases have been rising in the local area, we have seen an increase in positive Covid cases within school both amongst our children and staff.  Whilst for most people, particularly children, Covid-19 is a mild illness, it is still having a significant impact on staffing levels and we are working hard to ensure the school can continue to operate safely.

I would like to remind parents of the current guidelines for testing and isolation, should your child become ill:

  • If your child has symptoms, you should arrange for them to have a PCR test.
  • If they test positive for Covid-19 they should stay at home for up to 10 days – see important note below.
  • You can do a rapid lateral flow test on your child after 5 days and another on the next day.  If both tests are negative and your child does not have a fever, they may return to school.
  • If the lateral flow test is positive you can continue to carry out tests every day until they get two consecutive negative test results or the full 10 days isolation has been completed (whichever is sooner).

IMPORTANT – please be aware that the 10 days starts from the day after the test date or the date symptoms started.  For example: if your child tests positive on a Wednesday, this is counted as Day 0.  Day 5 is therefore the following Monday and Day 6 the Tuesday.  The earliest day your child would be able to return to school is the Tuesday.

In order to help us control the spread of Covid-19 within school, we would ask that all parents follow the above guidelines and ensure children do not return to school before Day 6, even if they have tested negative before this date.

If your child has tested positive for covid-19 and is absent from school, we will add work to Microsoft Teams for them to complete if they are well enough. However, we have a number of staff absences currently, so please bear with us as it may not always be possible to provide work immediately.

Your co operation in these matters is appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Samantha Hodder

Principal
