Easter Holiday Homework
Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,
Firstly, we would like to celebrate the hard work your children have been putting in this term. There is a lot of motivation amongst the year group to do the best they can in the SATs next term and we have been really impressed by their overall attitude. The results in the latest practice papers were excellent and show that the children have made really good progress since our first practice in October.
As the term ends, we are sending the children home with some activities to do over the Easter holidays to help them keep their skills sharp. The homework is split into 10 minute activities and the aim is that, if possible, the children do 20-30 minutes work per day over a ten-day period. ‘Little but often’ is best but we understand this is not always possible and sometimes children will find it easier to organise their work differently.
The homework covers all the main areas:
- Maths (arithmetic and reasoning)
- Spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Reading
Please could the children bring their work back into school during the first week back after the holidays so we can discuss their thoughts and identify areas that they would like to revise over the last couple of weeks.
Of course, this work is not intended to cause any distress so feel free to support or encourage your child to leave any questions they are not sure about. Again, common areas of difficulty can be picked up next term.
Thanks again for all your ongoing support and we wish you and your family a very happy and restful Easter.
The Year 5/6 team
