Extreme Weather Warning Letter

Dear Parent/Carer

We remain at a Level 3: Amber warning, for high temperatures in the coming days, likely to last until Wednesday 20th July.

We will ensure temperatures in school are kept as low as possible by keeping blinds closed and opening windows and doors, and where possible using fans to keep temperatures down. We have conducted a risk assessment of our academy and will be making the following adjustments.

  • Assembly will be online tomorrow to avoid a large gathering in the hall
  • Children will go outside at break and lunch but will remain in the shade
  • Football and other active games will not be allowed
  • PE will not take place tomorrow

Hydration

Please ensure your child comes to school with a bottle of water which can be refilled in academy during the day. Pupils will be encouraged to drink fluids regularly throughout the day and specifically after break and lunch. Opportunities to drink regularly will be provided to children without a water bottle.

Uniform

Children should still wear uniform but should opt for shorts, dresses or skirts where possible. Please send your child to school with a hat and apply sun cream before school.

All of the above measures will assist in keeping a reasonable temperature inside, and of course as always we will continue to dynamically assess throughout the day.

Health issues

If you are concerned about any potential health risks relevant to your child’s health conditions, please contact us as soon as possible and we will support you to make appropriate arrangements.

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Hodder, Principal
