Free School Meal Vouchers – Covid Winter Grant Scheme
The Department for Work and Pensions allocated additional funding to councils, through the Covid Winter Grant Scheme, to support the needs of vulnerable families and individuals over the winter. Through this scheme, North Somerset Council issued an initial payment in December to those children eligible for free school meals, in the form of a £30 supermarket voucher.
A final payment of £45 per eligible child is now being issued by North Somerset Council and this will also be in the form of a supermarket voucher. The vouchers will be distributed via ‘schoolvouchers.com’ and we are supporting them with this process.
As a parent/carer of a child who is eligible for free school meals, you will receive an email by Friday 12th February containing your voucher code. You will then need to redeem this code to select your supermarket and receive your shopping voucher. Please follow the instructions in the email and refer to the following guidance on how to redeem your voucher code:
If you do not receive an email by 1.00pm on Friday 12th February, or have any problems redeeming your voucher code, please contact the school office.
This scheme is in addition to the FSM vouchers being issued by ourselves through Edenred. The next allocation of vouchers through Edenred will be distributed to eligible children, who are not attending school, on Friday 26th February. These vouchers will cover the two week period from 22nd February to 5th March.
