NSC - Bridge Works Winterstoke Road. - Uphill Village Academy

Dear all,

I am getting in touch to let you know about upcoming road closures and lane closures relating to the replacement of Winterstoke Road Bridge.

We are aware that pupils, parents and staff in the area use the bridge so it may be helpful to be aware of any potential disruption to journeys. The table below is due to be published on the North Somerset Council website shortly and is correct at the time of writing (Sept 2025).

We will also add your school to our mailing list for the project’s newsletter. This is where future updates to traffic management issues (as well as more general scheme updates) will be communicated. Where there is likely to be higher levels of disruption, for example this weekend’s closure of Winterstoke Road Bridge to allow construction of the temporary footbridge, we will send a dedicated update like this one.

During the replacement of Winterstoke Road Bridge, a temporary pedestrian footbridge will be in place to maintain safe access by foot or on by bike throughout the period of construction.

Please note, Virgin Media will also be completing works which will require a lane closure in the week of 15 September.
