Reminder: Scarlet Fever Symptoms and Guidance
Dear Parents/Carers
Further to our communication on 12th January, we are continuing to see a small number of suspected and confirmed cases of scarlet fever across the school and would like to remind parents of the typical symptoms to look out for.
We are re-sending the guidance received from the South West Health Security Agency, which can be accessed using the link below. Please ensure you read this and, if your child has any of the possible symptoms, please keep them off school and follow the recommended guidance.
Although there are lots of viruses that cause similar symptoms, we would recommend speaking to your GP if any symptoms continue for more than 24/48 hours. Without antibiotic treatment, scarlet fever can remain contagious for 2-3 weeks. Children who receive antibiotics are able to return to school 24 hours after starting treatment, providing they feel well enough to do so.
Thank you for your co-operation to help prevent the spread of infection.
Kind Regards
Uphill Village Academy
