St Briavels – Ready to Go!

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our St Briavels trip is almost here and the children, as you probably know, are very excited!

Packing:

  • Pack carefully and don’t take too much! Please remember, your child will need to be able to carry their own luggage to & from the coach. Only bring what is necessary in a small holdall/suitcase, remember we are only away for one night.
  • Please label all luggage clearly
  • The weather is looking sunny & hot so please pack a sunhat and suntan lotion. Make sure your child knows how to apply suntan lotion properly – we cannot do this for them and they cannot share it with other children. We do NOT provide sun cream.
  • There is a finalised kit list with this letter to help with your child’s packing; if you have any issues or concerns, please contact the school office team. Be aware we have updated this slightly to reflect the hot weather.
  • We do not allow snacks or sweets to be brought to camp from home. There is plenty of food available throughout the day. Please do not pack any food items unless this has been specifically agreed with the office team before the trip.
  • No money should be taken.

Thursday 16th:

  • Children should arrive at normal school time, leave their luggage in the front playground and go straight to the hall for registration. If your child is booked into Breakfast Club this arrangement can remain unchanged.
  • Please remember parents are not allowed to come to the hall with their child. Staff will be on hand for any children who may be worried.
  • Children should arrive wearing old clothes and suitable footwear as activities will start on arrival at camp.
  • All children will need to bring in a packed lunch to eat on Thursday lunchtime, but please provide this in a plastic/paper bag/wrapping, not a lunchbox. We would rather children do not take lunch boxes on the trip as it’s something else to clean and store! No nuts or nut products please.

  Return on Friday 17th:

  • We plan to be back at school around 2:30pm, when children should be collected from the front playground. A prompt collection is appreciated.
  • If there is any change to this time, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Medication:

  • No medicine, including travel sickness tablets, should be packed into your child’s luggage. All medicines will be accounted for prior to the trip and the necessary forms completed. Children cannot carry or self-administer medication on this trip (except inhalers). We will take blue inhalers that we have in school for children with asthma.
  • NO medication can be accepted on the morning of the trip. Please ensure you have contacted the office team and completed the necessary paperwork for any medication your child will require.

We will be uploading a selection of photographs of our trip when we return to school. We will send a text message to parents to confirm safe arrival at St Briavels and to let parents know when we have started the return journey.

Please don’t hesitate to speak to any of the staff if you have any questions before we depart.

We are very excited and looking forward to a fantastic trip.

With regards

Year 3/4 Team

Kit List – St Briavels Residential 2026

It is a good idea if your child helps you do the packing, so that they can hopefully recognise their own belongings. You could also include a list of items to aid packing on the day we return.

Pack everything into one holdall/small suitcase. Children have to carry their belongings from the coach onto the site & are only away for ONE night, so please pack lightly! Ensure bags are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Clothing

  • Changes of clothes x 1 set (Please pack/wear shorts. Please ensure your child has one pair of long trousers i.e. joggers, in case we are in long grass or it may get chilly at night)
  • Waterproof cagoule x 1 (no rain is forecast so this is probably not necessary)
  • Indoor footwear (optional) e.g: daps, clean trainers, slippers
  • Pyjamas
  • Toiletries (toothbrush/soap/flannel/hairbrush)
  • Small Towel (they won’t be having a shower!)
  • Sun hat & sun cream & lip balm (weather dependant)

Other

  • Teddy bear!
  • Small backpack, but large enough to hold their packed lunch, bottle, coat etc.
  • Lunch for the first day – no lunchbox please (apologies this was requested on the previous kit list)
  • Refillable drinks bottle
  • A plastic bag for packing dirty clothes (a thick pedal bin liner or plastic bag is ideal)

What NOT to bring

  • Money
  • Snacks (there is plenty of food provided & snacks, sweets etc will be confiscated)
  • Mobile phones
  • Any electronic games e.g. i-Pads etc.
  • Jewellery, including watches (apart from simple stud earrings)

Please name label as many items as possible.
