Terms 3&4 in EYFS/Year 1 - Uphill Village Academy

Dear Parents/Carers,

This term our enquiry question is ‘How has Uphill changed over time?’. To start off our enquiry we are going on a walk around our local area to look at Uphill now and we can compare over the term how the area has changed.

As historians we will then use ariel photographs, google images to compare how our local area has changed over time. Do you have any photos of Uphill or Weston-super-Mare in the past you could bring into school for us to look at?

To support this enquiry question; could you take your child for a walk around and spot different houses? How are they different or the same? Are the roofs / windows the same shape / size? Could you talk to them about what we mean by ‘listed buildings’?

At the end of our enquiry we will be sharing our historical findings with the Year 2 children.

Please keep up with sharing and reading books to your child and your child reading to you at least three times a week. Please record this in your child’s home school diary.
