Update on School Provision for Children of Critical Workers

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, we would like to thank our parents for their continued support during this time; your patience is very much appreciated.

At the beginning of last week we asked parents to ‘book’ their children a place via the Parents Evening System. The booking system was originally available to ‘book’ spaces up to the end of Term 3, however due to the unexpected high demand for places, we have had to amend this process.

We feel we need to clarify that we are using the Parents Evening System as an indication of the demand for spaces: this does not automatically reserve your child(rens) places in school.

We will now only be opening the Parents Evening System one week at a time. It will be available from Friday to Thursday for the following week i.e. Bookings for w/c 25th January will open on Friday 15th at 4pm and close on Thursday 21st January at 4pm. Those parents who have already selected dates on the system for subsequent weeks will not need to do so again. These dates are held in the system and will be available for you to review once the relevant week re-opens.

Currently we are confident that we can meet the demand for places, however on some occasions either due to staff absence or increased demand this may not always be possible. In these cases we will contact parents directly to discuss this.

Attendance for each week will be reviewed on the Friday of the week before i.e. for w/c 18th January the registers will be reviewed on Friday 15th and we will ONLY contact families to discuss any issues or offer any additional places that have been requested.

Can we remind parents that if you have changes to your working patterns and your child will not be attending on the days selected you MUST contact the school office to inform us. We require as much notice as possible of this to ensure we can reallocate the place.

If your child cannot attend school, for whatever reason, on a day they are due to attend, the usual procedures for reporting an absence apply.  Please report your child’s absence by telephoning 01934 626769 option 1 and leaving a message on the absence line.

Can we remind all families that if anyone in your household shows any signs of Covid-19 symptoms they must get a test and all members of the household must stay home (do not attend school or work) until the test result is received.  If the test result is positive, the whole household must stay home for 10 days.  If a child displays Covid-19 symptoms whilst in school, they will be isolated and will need to be collected immediately and must not return to school until they have received a negative test result.

Many thanks for your continued support and if you have any queries about the content of this letter, please contact the school office team on [email protected]
